ACT Information
ACT - "The ACT® is the leading US college admissions test, measuring what you learn in high school to determine your academic readiness for college." - ACT website (act.org)
ACT vs. SAT - The ACT is generally the test given West of the Mississippi and the SAT is given East of the Mississippi. They are similar in tests, however, SAT does not have a science section. Some students like to take both and see what they do the best on. The schools will take whatever score is higher. They will also take the highest score achieved when the tests are taken multiple times. (See http://www.princetonreview.com/college/sat-act for more information on the differences)
Each Fall the 9th grade students will have the opportunity to take a practice ACT test (ACT Aspire). Fee information and sign-up will be sent home to each 9th grade student individually as well as by e-mail. The information gained from this practice test helps each individual student know what they can do to better prepare for the actual ACT test they will take in 11th grade.
