Divorce Classes for Kids
The Utah State Courts offers a Divorce Education for Children class to assist children impacted by divorce. The class helps children to identify feeling common when a divorce happens and teaches them communication skills to express their feelings. Feedback received from both parents and children continues to be very positive. Children are learning how to better both parents and children continues to be very positive. Children are learning how to better communicate their feelings and parents are noticing positive changes in their child's behavior.
The class is currently offered in the 3rd district court (Salt Lake/Summit/Tooele counties), and is free. It is designed for children ages 9-12 years old (3rd - 6th grade) whose parents are divorced, or divorcing. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS FOR CHILDREN ONLY - PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO CLASS. Pre-registration for the class is REQUIRED.
The 3rd district class is held at the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse in SLC.

Juvenile Receiving Center - Free crisis counseling, referrals and short-term placement for youth
Juvenile Receiving Center is a 24/7 facility that provides free crisis counseling, referrals to community agencies, and short-term placement for youth ages 8 -17.
Youth can go to the facility on their own, or parents can bring them. There is individual and family crisis counseling. Police can bring youth in who have committed and offence or delinquent act that does not meet Detention Admission Guidelines. . This can include running away from home, truancy, substance abuse, curfew violation or acting beyond the control of the youth's parents.
No appointment is needed to access the Juvenile Receiving Center services.

Family Resource Facilitators - They have a team of Family Resource Facilitators whose mission is to help parent and/or primary caregivers find the right solutions and possible outside resources to assist your families needs.
